Dogglounge has been playing deep house since 2003. No ads, no playlist handed down from anywhere, no algorithm deciding what you hear — just DJs who love this music and a room full of people listening.

We’re always open to new residents.

What you get

Every set you play here is recorded automatically. You don’t have to do anything — no local recorder, nothing to remember to press. When you’re done it’s filed under your name and the date, tagged with your photo, and kept in the archive.

Your sets get rebroadcast during the week, so your show reaches the people who couldn’t catch it live — different timezones, work, sleep.

You get a page of your own here with your bio, your photo and your mixes. When you go live, an alert goes out to everyone subscribed to notifications.

And you keep everything you make. Dogglounge takes no cut of anything, because there’s nothing to take a cut of. This isn’t a business, it’s a station.

What we’re looking for

Deep house, broadly drawn. Soulful, jazzy, dubby, downtempo, classic, leftfield — if it has depth to it and isn’t building to a festival drop, it probably fits. Have a look at the DJs and listen for a while; that’ll tell you more than a genre list will.

Mostly, though, we’re looking for someone who turns up. Two hours a week, or every other week, played consistently, counts for more here than a flawless demo.

All times US Central.

  • Tuesday — wide open, no live show at all right now.
  • Evenings — Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday are all free after 6pm.
  • Friday is our busiest night, and Wednesday nights are taken.

Tell us what suits you and we’ll work around your timezone — we’ve had residents broadcasting from the UK, and it worked fine.

What you need

A computer, your music, and broadcasting software. Most of our DJs use BUTT, which is free and runs on Mac, Windows and Linux. Mixxx, Rekordbox and Traktor all work too. Beyond that, an upload connection that can hold steady for a couple of hours.

Once you’re in we’ll send you your own connection details. You stream straight to the station and hit GO LIVE on your DJ panel when you’re ready to take over.

Never done a radio show before? That’s genuinely fine. Several of the people on our schedule hadn’t either.
