VOODOO LOPEZ – DAYS OF LIGHT

Voodoo Lopez ·31 Aug 2026 ·2:01:48
I was about to write about the meaning of DJ culture and partying in an increasingly darker world, filled with injustice, tragedies, hatred, confrontation, and catastrophes—at this stage of my life’s journey where, no matter how much effort one puts in and how hard one fights, I survive as best as I can, with the heavy burden of not even being able to help my loved ones, with the sadness that so much struggle bears no fruit, and that being noble and honest holds no value in a world dominated by narcissism, selfishness, and money. I am tired of the Bond girl of my dreams never arriving, of my worth in my daily work being suffocated by envy and jealousy, and even while not seeking fame or fortune, I find myself rowing with all my strength just to avoid falling into the abyss of depression and abandonment.
But despite all the bitterness, I believe this is a time in my life for gratitude. At this point, no matter how black the night, no matter how fierce the storm and the bitterness rage, I thank God for leaving me the comfort of beauty, of art, and of the people around us who know how to make one take off their armor, allowing us to enjoy trust, connection, and the warmth of those who love you—those who become your brothers and sisters, and everything on our path that brings us peace and hope. For there have always been stars to admire in the night, the shelter of your own soul to feel, a sea breeze to refresh your face, music to make you dream, and, on the edge of these final days of summer, the formidable burst of color from a bougainvillea against the white of a whitewashed wall, beneath the blue of the sky, on the way to a beach.
May we learn that love is in everything that surrounds us, and that it is our duty to ensure our children can inherit it, because there is peace in the everyday.
Thank you to everyone who listens to the show. A very big hug.
